AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning) are two of the most promising technological innovations in the field of medical imaging that will fundamentally change the clinical workflow in the upcoming decade. With faster and more accurate diagnoses, an imaging expert will have more time to devote to the most important things: the patient and the patient’s health.

Multiple providers are developing such technologies to support doctors in daily tasks within diverse clinical environments. These include triage systems that are helping to prioritize cases for reading based on suspicious findings or detection-support instruments that enable faster and more precise recognition of specific diagnoses. Other applications include automated quantification and measurements of findings across the different modalities and subspecialties. Regulatory certification is crucial for successful commercialization of these products.
