AI helpful in improving patient care in acute trauma: New RADIOLOGY publication by Dr.Guermazi
Just recently Dr Guermazi and colleagues published a scientific article in Radiology showing the impact of AI (Gleamer) on the diagnostic performance of 24 physicians with varying backgrounds and specialties reading radiographs with and without fractures. Reading X-rays with the help of the AI algorithm improved sensitivity from 64.8% to 75.2% in diagnosing fractures and specificity improved from 90.6% to 95.6% at the same time. As a potential support instrument in a real clinical environment the Gleamer AI algorithm may help in flagging fracture-suspicious studies in the RIS/PACS system in order to prioritize those studies for instantaneous reading. This algorithm holds great potential for AI to support radiologists and other healthcare providers for improving patientcare. The team from multiple different specialties helped tremendously in making this study possible: Chadi Tannoury, Andrew Kompel, Akira Murakami, Alexis Ducarouge, André Gillibert, Xinning Li, Antoine Tournier, Youmna Lahoud, Mohamed Jarraya, Élise Lacave, Hamza Rahimi, Aloïs Pourchot, Robert Parisien, Alexander Merritt, Douglas Comeau, Nor-Eddine Regnard, and Daichi Hayashi. A real dream team!
